Default Samsung sent to service

soo. i just sent mine in to samsung and they received it on the 24. they e-mailed me saying this:

"We are experiencing a delay in service due to parts not available and would like to thank you for your patience.
We will try our best to complete the repair and return your product as soon as possible."

so i called them to see what this meant and the guy told me that if they didnt receive the parts by monday theyd send me out a replacement. what are the chances of this being another bd-up5000? i kinda bought this player so i could play both formats so if i got something else instead it would be kind of a disappointment in that respect.

I doubt they'll send you back something other than a 5000, don't worry too much about it. Samsung service is actually really pretty good.

From my two experiences, if they get the part you'll get the 5K back. If not, then they'll most likely send a BD-P2500 as a replacement. Which service center did yours get directed to?

I sent mine to a location in California. They had my unit for a little over 2 weeks before they called me and asked if I was willing to accept a replacement. I was hoping to get the 5K repaired since I wanted to pair it up to my 750 instead of using the BH200 however after using the 2500 for the past couple of weeks, it's a great unit. Pulled the A35 out since I still feel HD DVD playback is a bit better on that vs the BH200.

That sucks, my 2500 made it back from their hands unscathed and working beautifully.

honestly the main concern for me is functionality. i dont plan on getting rid of this thing so if push comes to shove ill have a fantastic player with a scratch on it that i got a great deal on.

Excellent news! I wish I was as lucky just once with my experiences but I'm really liking my 2500 as well. We use the dual format mostly in our living room so not missing it too much, the A35 needed to be dusted off anyway.
