First thing that is going to be asked is whether or not you are running latest firmware. Browsing Samsung's site it appears last firmware update for that player is dated 06/02 v1.3. If you are not at that release, try flashing your player to see if remediates the issue.

Nope, it's a known problem with 1.3 (heavily documented at AVSforum)...the ball is in Samsung's court.

Thread moved to proper forum, and as Vinnie said its a reported issue (known) and supposedly being worked on. All you can do is Call Samsung to further "push" them.

Hey Gene, would you mind posting the names of these title(s), so the rest of us can avoid them until there's a resolution? Thanks.

Default titles

the ones I tried so far is THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER and TOP GUN..you can play the movie..just don't try anything else from main menu or player freezes up..also just noted..The Mummy on blu..give you a "bonus view" sign in top corner..you must go to setup menu and turn off messages to remove problem..same issue existed with the sammy 1200 player and Meet the Robinsons...guess they did not learn

Well, I've been running into a different sort of issue. Whenever I pop in "The Godfather" trilogy, "Pushing daisies" or "Iron Man", whatever I start playing, be it the movie or extras it plays fine. however, after a couple of hours there is a noticeable drop in sound quality, where there is a crackling sound and the voices begin to sound muffled, until eventually there is no sound. When I put another disk in, be it a BD, HDDVD ot SD, there will beno sound until I reboot the player. This only happens with the aforementiond disks. Other than that, this player is great and hopefully the next firmware resolves the majority of the lingering issues.

I believe others have mentioned haveing an issue with Godfather, but I cant remember if it was confirmed.....I know Iron Man has been reported to work with the new pressing.....Not sure about the few hours things though, havent seen that one come across before...Not sure if many have done movie marathons with this player yet...I think the longest I have had the player on was for 2 movies straight (about 4 hours without loss of quality.

After having issues with Patriot Games and Top Gun, then hearing about Iron Man issues, I knew it was time to dump it. Lets all remember, Indiana Jones is Paramount too. With that coming out soon, there WILL be issues...just not for me anymore.

Pelenor, seems akin to a software problem that exhibited in earlier firmwares where only rebooting the player would fix the sound. Come on, Samsung...quit dicking around.

Default called them again

and they acted like they never heard of any of these issues b4..they also said that since they are not involved in film making..that they will always lag behind and have issues with their bd players..unlike sony and panny..sounds like a bunch of sammy bs..

At least you can be happy that your ironman blu-ray works. Right?

Now you're just baiting.

Out of my owned discs, the only one that doesn't play is an HD DVD import. The ratio of discs that do not play to those that do is so small as to be nearly immeasurable.

I have two BD-UP5000s and a BH200. I'm not about to run because of a few firmware snafus. I still see over 100 HD DVD titles that don't have BD announcements.

Don't expect any helpful replies ever again from me. Ignore status: Accomplished.
