Help choosing a new drive for my new PC

Hi guys, sorry if this question has been answered before, but no one seems to know the answer.

I am building a new PC and I no longer wants a DVD-recorder drive.

I am interested to know if:

- There are HD-DVD recordable/rewritable discs available out there;

- If the answer is YES, what's the best drive today capable of recording HD-DVD/Blu-Ray/DVD? From what I can see, there are only drives capable of recording Blu-Ray discs (I assume BD-R means recordable and BD-RE means rewritable). These drives can only read HD-DVD discs (from movies), but not record to my knowledge.

One example of drive that can do what I said earlier is the LG GGW-H20L priced US$ 270 on NewEgg:

So, what do you think? I know there are no HD-DVD movies anymore, but what about R/RW discs? Blu-Ray media is expensive these days, specially here where I live.

There are no HD DVD Burners that you can buy that I know of, the LG GGW-H20L drive that you mention can burn Blu-ray and DVD but it can on;y read HD DVD disc.

You can burn HD DVD to Standard DVD Disc, sometimes called 3x DVD, using software such as Pinnacle Studio Ultimate Version 11 or 12. You will need some way to get High Def Content like an HD Camcorder or HD DVR though.
