Im waiting to see if the 5000 ever dips below $400 and its mine. I have several other players blu and red, so its a want more than a need.

I'm waiting for my Bestbuy gift cards (2 of them), though I also then have to wait for BestBuy to lower their price on the 5000 player.

The BD-UP5000 supply seems to be decreasing.

Does really matter which one you go with?

I'm leaning towards the LG since they said they would support HD DVD for the foreseeable future. I believe Samsung is pulling the plug on their support for combo players.

both have their drawbacks and both have positives. I chose the BDup5K, others are enjoying the Bh200. In the end it comes down to what are you looking for in the player.

I havent seen any notion or heard any comments from Samsung to make believe this. they actually said that the BDUP5K would be the best choice for HD DVD owners to make the transition to Blu-ray (cant remember where the quote was). samsng has continued to support this player.

What we will see from both companies is a drop in "focus" on problems with HD DVDs. Due to the demise of the HD DVD format, both company will make a transition probably to bare bones tech support for HD DVD, since these also play Blu-rays though, I dont think we will see them drop commitment to either player.

With the AMAZON price going so low, I may just buy another 5000 to put in the bedroom.

I ordered my second 5000 from Amazon last night for $449. Amazon advertised having only 4 left. My local BB in Westwood by UCLA had 2 left. So it now seems that the supplies are dwindling. Glad that I'll now be able to watch both formats in living room and bedroom.

The player has been discontinued according to a friend who works at Visions Electronics here in Vancouver. Apparently all retailers are just clearing stock now.
