Default 1080p/24fps?

Forgive me for asking this if has already been answered. Does the 5K output 1080p/24fps?
My 606 will only upconvert to 1080i, which is fine for my DVD player but I read my projector will handle the 1080p/24fps and look even better.

That would mean that I would have to change the 606 output from 1080i to "thruogh" for my hidef material and rental DVDs and back to 1080i to look at movies from my 400 disc changer.

I guess another option would be to use my analog audio outs to my 606 and run my hdmi out directly to the second hdmi input on my projector.

If the 5K does not output 1080p/24fps it's all moot.
Please advise.

It does! And can be turned on or off through the setup menus...

Only through HDMI though.... Analog is a no go. Not that I mind but frankly what is 1080p/24fps vs 1080p/60fps? I've watched a alot of both HD DVD and Blu Ray and....haven't noticed any differences between the two.. Even when hooked directly to my TV and set at 1080p/24fps.

So what is it that I am lookn for?

I think the picture is supposed to be more film like, whatever that means. I'm going to the menu to see if I can see a difference and report back.

Many people report that they can indeed see a difference, but you have to have the TV that can display 24fps AND the player set to "Film Mode"=On in order to turn it on...Remember though that not every title can be seen in 24fps either. There are some titles that force 60 fps...I cant remember which ones off the top of my head though.

I read a review on my projector that stated 1080p/24fps would look better. They must have better vision than i do. I don't see any difference. Or perhaps I don't know what to look for.

While it may look different in most cases, I am thinking that since your projector is 720P (I think), that this may have something with you not seeing as much of a difference. I could be wrong though...

Good sources for comparisons of 24fps vs 60fps: Any movie scene that utilizes lengthy, consistently smooth camera pans (the beginning of Sahara is an excellent one) or rolling credits at the conclusion of a movie. If you notice jittery motion, chances are you are not getting 24fps processing. I notice this with my Samsung LCD manufactured in 2007 and it has given me a bad case of upgraditis.

Default Color Fading during Playback of HD DVD

I am wondering if anyone else has seen or had this occur to them. I was watching Troy in Hd DVD and during the movie the colors faded out. I pulled the disk and restrated the movie (back to the original chapter) and everything worked fine.

I just upgraded the firmware to the newest version last week - not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Not sure what the issue was. Any idea from anyone would be appreciated.

I have not experienced that issue, nor have I seen it reported before. You may want to check your HDMI cable and your connections to make sure everything is OK.

I'm starting a support group for upgraditis. LOL
I compared my picture again with Batman Begins, looking at component vs. 1080p/24 FPS and I could see a difference. So I might be in remission as far as my projector goes but perhaps the screen?.......

Default Just purchased a BD-UP5000

Hey everyone! Just purchased a BD-UP5000. Was looking for advice on setting this unit up. I plan on using the analog outputs to my receiver. For video, I will be using an HDMI/DVI cable to my TV which has a resolution of 1366 x 768. Specifically which settings for audio should I use. I will be using the analog outs exclusively for audio and I would like to be able to enjoy lossless soundtracks (PCM or Dolby TrueHD). I have been a proud owner of HD DVD since December of 2007, so this will be my first foray into the world of Blu. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, guys (and gals)!

::False Advertisng / Warranty Issues::
I purchased a BDP-UP5000 (refurbished) in May'08 from "DATAVIS.COM" on their web site they state that this product came with a full one year warranty, after receiving and finding out it only had a 90 day warranty, I contacted them and was informed they would purchase a one year extended warranty for me, then it turned in to they would sell me a three year warranty at cost, but I had to contact a person by the name of Keith to purchase, when ever I would call for this Keith he were never there, and none of the answering reps would assist. and later I was told Keith no longer worked for the company? As of today they are still listing a full one year warranty for this product. To top this off when I registered the product online at Samsung I was to of received ".. an extra 90 days .." of warranty service direct from Samsung, yet the extra days were never added to my warranty!! A week ago the device started making a 'grinding noise' when turned on and has become noisy when doing chapter searches! And do not feel that I should have to pay close to $200.00 {W/Shipping} or half of the price paid for replacement / repair! The resellers web site, look near the bottom of the page, since I contacted them in May'08 they had plenty of time to of corrected the web page error and never did. They claim to be a "Samsung authorized dealer!"!!

What do you feel my next step should be.. Wife says sell on 'eBay' with a notice of working when replaced with profile 2.0 machine buying as is...or the like..
