I guess we know why now seeing as how this product is now discontinued. I don't own anything by Samdung, and never have. still I didn't think they were incompetent. Until now.
wow. they are pathetic. discontinuing bd players left and right. what in the world could they be thinking?
What a fucking joke!!
I will NEVER buy a Samdung product now. I have now lost all faith in Samdung. I would be SOOOOO paranoid that my model would be cancelled 2 months after it came out.
They are nuts. I mean really crazy!
What kind of reputable ce co would pull this kind of shit?
Are you kidding me?

After the firmware patch that brings out profile 1.1 and the other sound formats, what else do you need from Samsung? They sold it to you to play movies...mine plays movies. After the patch comes out, I don't care what the label on the front says...Samsung, Daewoo, Dynex...who cares...as long as it does what I want it to do....and it will. now if they dont bring that firmware out, THEN I have an issue.....

Discontinue so when titles come out unplayable on the player, oh well! The costumer base wasn't too huge.

Hmm...I can't find that it's discontinued. There's no news on Samsung-USA's site to that effect. Also, cameraaddicts' site doesn't label it as discontinued.

Arkadin, where did you get that info?

in stuttgardetfan's thread on this page.
apparently some website is saying it is being discontinued,
I just assume they are correct, but maybe I shouldn't have been so quick to assume they are right.

that was a rumor... they will be discontinuing this once they come out with a new high end model mid year... and they will have a mid range bdp-5000 coming out... if people were waiting for better players all the time... no one would own a blu-ray player now... me? i want the 5500 over this... because it will retail cheaper...

For those that are wondering here are the reseller ratings that some look to for guidance:

If you have one of the BB 20% coupons that were sent out then you can get this player for 67x.
