Default For BDUP5000 Owners

Just wanted to let people know that Samsung released a firmware update for disc "compatibility issues". Available for download from their site (not sure about direct Ethernet download. Its still to early to tell what issues have been fixed.

Someoen let me know what this does. I don't seem to have the same compatability issues as everyone else, so I'm not sure I should even install this version

OK it looks like some of the Fox titles have been fixed, we still have mixed reports though. No audio fixes were expected and we did not get any. I would expect that for sometime Q2 as previously announced. Since people are still playing with the new update and the old problem discs reports are still coming in. I know one of the biggest issues 3:10 to Yuma has been reported as fixed.

So far I found it adds DTS-HD support
It should add Profile 1.1 as well, but I have not tested that yet
TrueHD is still 2CH....

Well, then it seems like we have a conflict of reports. Ph8 says no audio fixes...Dak says it adds DTS-HD, which is it? Nothing was made mention of adding 1.1 support on this upgrade, Dak says it does. The file SAYS it only fixes some compatability issues.

The best player on the market doesn't do lossless audio?

Glad I returned mine within the 30-day return period. It sounds like no lossless until Q2.

This thread is "For BDUP5000 Owners". We actually own the player, we didn't ditch it, like some people. So, don't come here to talk bad about it...surely theres a panasonic thread or a Sharp thread somewhere ..... whatever "superior" player you own.

Hey hey hey man I said I'd buy it again later when all firmware problems would be fixed. Dont worry. Either that or the 5500. So I'm on board for duo-player still unless the war ends completely before I decide to buy a new one.

AznNintendoFan1: he was talking to me.

I'd buy another one as well. But not until they fix all the problems.

To call this "the best player on the market" just doesn't sit right with me since it can't decode or bitstream lossless audio. It may BECOME the best player on the market but it's certainly isn't right now.

Name some negatives. It has NEUTRALS...but not negatives. It can't decode those formats...YET. its not 1.1...YET. I only consider things that they can't fix, a negative. My player didn't have compatability issues to begin with..so I'm extra positive.

READ the forum, Spartan--it's not available anywhere, at least that I can find. The 1st production batch sold in a week or so before Christmas, and the 2nd hasn't yet arrived.
