The fact that 2400 is cancelled isn't the interesting news here. Notice the part about the 5000 having all the internal hardware required to be 2.0 compliant!

Update: The Samsung BD-UP5000 has been moved back to December. The BD-UP5000 is a dual-format player and with this new release date means it is a minimum 1.1 spec, but it has all the required hardware to be a 2.0 spec. This may confirm my assumption that the BDP-2400 was canceled because they couldn’t meet the Oct. 31 deadline.

The only bad thing is that its missing the memory , at least from what posters on AVS can tell from looking at the internal shots of the 5000, while it may be able to do some things, I personally think it might fall short on the memory issue . I am not to worried though as this information has been available for quite some time (well at least i was aware of it).

An article from September 07 speculating that it will do it - any more recent info on it? Samsungs site doesn't currently say what hardware it has (memory) or anything about 2.0 compliance.... It actually says it will only play 1.0 profile discs and may be upgraded - on page 11 -

Any real proof? I really hope it's true - but don't believe it yet... I won't do BD until a duo will do bd 2.0 and WILL NOT buy a ps3 -

I thought I read something about this player having 256mb. I also thought I read that in order to be 2.0 compliant the player needs 1gig. I could be wrong, but thats what I recall. If this player will be 2.0 compliant, then I am wrong.

Let's hope I'm wrong.
