Okay I decided to take one for the team!

Okay everybody, my PS3 finally overheated because I use it to do everything. Watch movies and dvd's and play videogames and even surf the web when I dont feel like sitting at my computer desk. Even the fan I put on the system didn't help. So I'm sending it back to sony to take care of the problem. So, I decided, using my mom's computer in another room, to buy the BD-UP5000 early. I'm sorry I know there are bugs to work out and some people are having problems but I need entertainment when I'm home and not studying or working or hanging with friends. So I'm gonna see if there are any problems with the unit I just bought. Yup, I think of you all as my HD-friends and we are all one team. Yes some of us back one side exclusively and the other well.... the other. But still we are all into HD and that's the thing we have in common. So once that baby arrives, I will have to do a LOT of movie and dvd watching of both formats and I have a LOT of movies on both formats not to mention a LOT of DVD's. So yes I will take the fall (as well) for you all. I'm gonna take one for the team!

So I will let you know how it is. I should get it around the 2nd week of January since I just ordered it now.

that's a great way to put it. lol. I couldn't wait any longer and decided fuck it and got the bd-30 last night at BB. God I hope it works ok. It's so sad to lay down $500 and worry about whether the component you just bought will even perform its main purpose. But hey, that's the world of Blu-Ray for you. I feel like such a sucker it makes me sick.
But I am now OFFICIALLY NEUTRAL baby!!!!!, and can now (hopefully) watch my 10 Blu-Ray's.

uhh let's see: "Seventh Seal", "Oldboy", "A Few Good Men", "Cars", "Pirates 2", "Hellboy", "Spider-man 3", "20,000 Miles To Earth", "Close Encounters", "The Fly", "Fifth Element" and "Casino Royale." I think that's it, so not that many. There honestly are not that many more I want right now. There are some titles I will get if they are redone for sure. I'm waiting for all the older stuff. That's my main interest.

A chance to make a buck on ebay. if you condemn me, then you condemn all that is American! I made an effort to be at my Best Buy the day they made these available. I bought one of two available, paid full price, and happily left the store intending to keep it. Then I find out there is a shortage and so my brain starts working again. "If you sell this for a profit, you can buy more movies and repurchase the unit on BB's next shipment cuz you know the manager and know when the shipment will arrive and he will hold one for you....hey good plan" I'm not dumping the machine, I'm temporarily going without, so others may have. It's like I'm helping people....

look I don't think I'd think twice about if you hadn't actually tried to convince people that were hesident to go ahead and purchase it. That's what really takes the cake for me.
I mean it just makes you look kind of silly, that's all.
and serves as a reminder that the ebay effect is indeed a powerful force.
I hope all the effort pays off at least.

Oh yes, any 7th generation consoles can potentially overheat. But only less than 5% of all PS3 consoles bought in the United States have actually overheated. The XBox 360 has a track record of up to 30% of all bought consoles in the United States and the Wii I believe has less than 2% overheating census. This I read somewhere in a gamers digest. Actually a few. But I pushed this baby to its limits. Sometimes I'd leave the thing on for days at a time. I'd also leave it on for my cousins to play it while I'm at work and if I'd be gone for a long time they'd forget to turn it off. I'd sleep with it still on. The list goes on and on. I've had this console for oh, 8 months so thank god my warranty is still good on it. Not a big deal. Even the dependable Sony PS3 can fail. It's technology. I accept it.

But definitely I will let you all know how the BD-UP5000 treats me when I get it. It says on the order status I wont get it til like 1/17/08. I should've paid the extra 20 dollars to get it express. Dammit. Oh well, gives me more time to catch up and pay that all back on my credit card. haha. I hope it treats me better than it has to some of you who have complained about it. I'm gonna use that baby like crazy once I get it.

eh, sorry for the confusion Nintendo. no I'm just amazed at chickengas.
I mean I've been reading this guy's posts for a week and then I see his thread about ebaying the fucking thing. I was like Wtf??
I would never "condemn" anybody for trying to make a buck per se, but this really surprised me. I don't think I can remember anything similar ever happening on here where somebody got something rare like this early, talked it up, tried to convince others to purchase it, and then said they were going to sell it. Amazing. I just didn't get it and still don't.
but to each his own I guess.
