LG Superblu 200 Review!

Well with the samsung dual player now out, this one seems pretty pointless, but you have to give props to LG for at least trying. This model is FAR better than the total shit that was the 100, and this review is overall very favorable. So IF for some reason the Samsung has some major unknown problem, at least there is a reasonable alternative. Note: this review focuses a lot on the audio shortcomings. If they are NOT alleviated by a firmware upgrade, this player would DEFINITELY not be close to the Samsung which IS getting this upgrade (and may already do TrueHD multichannel out of the box). It would be nice to get confirmation from LG regarding this.

Keep in mind:
1)

The BH200 does not have multichannel analog outputs. Your audio output options are HDMI, a TosLink optical digital port, and two-channel analog

2)

There is no current option, however, that we found that enabled 1080p/24fps playback with the 24p-capable displays we used

According to that table, Dolby TrueHD is output from the player only as two-channel PCM, except when DTS re-encode is selected in the audio setup menu. And even then its output is said to be ordinary multichannel DTS. DTS HD-MA is also played back as standard DTS.

• Seriously limited in its ability to play back the newest, high resolution audio codecs
