Funny there's no mention of what profile the player is. You think that would be one of the more important specs. I'll take that as a sign it's profile 1.1.

Well I don't see anything about network connectivity so Profile 1.1 is probably accurate.
But analog audio output for less than $200? Now we're getting somewhere!Panasonic PT-AE1000U 1080p LCD Projector
104" Carada Brilliant White Fixed Frame Screen
Xbox 360 HD DVD Add-On
HD DVD (34) - List

Well, the article does state that it can decode True HD and DTS HD Master Audio in the player, which is fantastic. Combine that with 7.1 analog outs, it sounds like an absolute raging deal for having an MSRP of 199, which we all know amounts to an actual price of $179 at most online retailers.

As for Vizio's products, they actually have been pretty darn reliable according to published reports.
The problem with Vizio's TV is not the longevity, its the picture quality in the first place, which is slightly below average when compared to the top brands.
However, I'm sure there Blu-ray player will be fine, it seems like all of the cheaper Bluray players, ie. Funai, Memorex, etc., they all seem to operate quite well actually.

Exciting player. Maybe if I get a second job...yeah, my financial situation is that dire right now. But wow, <$200, 2.0, and analog full hd audio. I can't ask for more. Except some disposable income

Bash Vizio all you want. The reality is that this player is a great thing for the entire BLU-RAY INDUSTRY. Profile 2.0, decodes all HD-Audio formats, analog 7.1 audio out...all for $199?!?!
This player may very well signal the transition of mass blu-ray adoption from DVD.

I won't buy anything from JVC, Vizio, or other new Blu-ray CEs... until I see how they handle the new waves of Fox titles for 3-4 months, and how they release firmware to solve issues.

This is going to definitely force price drops all around. 1.1 players with no analog audio out (i.e. BDP-1500) for $99 perhaps?

Actually, I believe they are sold at Circuit City, Walmart, Target, and hundreds of online retailers including Amazon, Tiger Direct, etc. etc. etc.
In fact, If I remember right, they passed Sony and Samsung and now sell the most flat screens TVs in America.
And I'm not sure, but I believe they include a 1 year "in home" warranty service, where they come to your house and take care of any problems you may have.

Good to see in this economy...
The little guys are getting bigger, while the bigger guys are getting little(er). Good for them.
