this will be really good. not only will it drive player prices down, but it will increase adoption, the sooner they get that player out the better. lets hope its by summer. Movie prices are a bigger hurdle right now though than player prices.

It's Profile 2.0, says it supports BD-Live in the specs

I guess Iphones, any music with the f word in them, and hybrid cars, make that cars in general aren't mainstream then because Walmart doesn't carry them, hence they COULDN'T POSSIBLY be mainstream

I gotta say I'm astonished a player with all that, especially 7.1 analog output and a BR player at that, can go for so low.
This being said I obviously hope it's reliable. I also hope there are no hiccup's in the sound decoding. I mean for the latter if it's reliable THIS could be the player that consistently gets the mass consumer market bitching about any title without Lossless audio. After all to get Lossless all people with a home theater receiver will have to do is plug in analog cables from the player to the home theater receiver.
I mean this could be what basically moves Joe Six Pack into the home audio snob department.
How many home theater receivers could people get on the cheap secondhand that this would work with ya know?

If the MSRP is 199, and Costco, BJ's, and Sam's has pallet upon pallet of them for sale at $149 as speculated.

It will pretty much force Sony, Samsung, and Panasonic to sell their base player for $169 or $179 right next to the Vizio.

Just like Vizio's TVs is why you can buy Sony and Sammy LCDs for just a couple of hundred more than Vizio's.

This is great news for the consumer indeed.

Wow, where do you live, I have NEVER seen a pallet of ANY blu-ray player anywhere in the Baltimore MD area? In fact, I don't think I've seen more than about 4 of any given model in any store at one time.

Still, love the sound of this VIZIO player!!

Southern California

Costco and Sam's in my area always have stacks upon stacks of Bluray players.

Last month when the Sony Bluray player was on sale there, they had a pallet stacked with them, which they blew through in just about 2 weeks.

Well, I guess at this point blu-ray is much more popular in SoCal then in the Mid-Atlantic. We have some catching up to do...

I've seen pallets in the midwest/south also (at Best Buy), here in an eastern suburb of Dallas.

Best Buys around here would never put an ugly pallet on the showroom floor. Everything is on a neat shelf.

Love my 47" Vizio LCD's PQ. I thought it blew away the comparable Panasonic, and looked basically the same as a Sony with $800 higher price-tag. I would buy this player without hesitation, especially since it will probably have an 1 year in-home warranty as well like all their tv's and get another year free through Costco! Love me some Vizio, though I've only owned the 1 tv from them.

huh, they certainly make use of pallets at my best buy... they're not ugly though, they're neatly stacked with a price advertisment on it.

The kind of wooden pallets that get driven around by pallet trucks? On a showroom floor? Wow. No. Not at the Best Buys near me. Never.

After thinking about it, I did see a fairly large stack (maybe 15 or so) Insignia players at our Best Buy back in November. They were not on a pallet of course, but neatly stacked in the AV area near one of the little viewing couches.

"neatly stacked" might be another way to put it. I only assumed there was a pallet for support. What I saw were several piles of the BD-P1500 in the middle of the aisle as well as on the side.

Stopped by my Best Buy yesterday for a look. Funny thing was a pallet truck was right near the front door!! But no, no pallets on the floor. Lots of little piles of TV's just outside the AV area, probably in preparation for the SuperBowl rush. Blu-ray? Well, they had about 8 players on display, but only one boxed Sony S550, One Sanyo, a bunch of the Insignia (probably over 10) and maybe half a dozen Pioneer 51's. No panasonics or samsungs other than the display models.
