Default What to expect

So what are we looking forward to this year?

Last year broke my heart with HD DVD...

This year we will hear that Toshiba has announced plans for an incredible NEW HD format by which utilize the old VHS format and apply Super Smart Up Conversion (Super SUC) to produce images which are well beyond what any 1080p native source could ever hope to produce.

Paramount decides to back it.

I'm expecting that CES will be about as exciting as CEDIA was this year. Unless we see some significant OLED release from Sony I wouldn't expect much.

Maybe Apple will finally enable Bluetooth stereo on the iPod Touch or iPhone.

Really though - nothing like last year.

No idea at all.

Just hoping for some good news and hoping that we see signs of life rather than the slow down killing the tech sector.

I hope to hear some good news on LED projectors as they seem to take care of all the downsides of front projection (never have to replace a bulbs and no fans making them completely silent).

Well apparently nothing from MS: http://www.n4g.com/industrynews/News...4832.aspx?CT=1

And yes, more/new LED technology would be great, I want the price of the XBR8 46" to come down a lot by next October :P

I second that...I'm saving up for a 1080P projector to replace my 720P and would be very interested in LED projectors!

what ever happened to FED/SED tv's that were supposed to come out? I think it was supposed to be Cannon and Toshiba?

supposedly, flat screen, flat panel TUBE tv, all the contrast, black blacks, refresh rate of a TUBE, with the sleekness of a flat panel.

Acually they just solved the legal issues recently but it was too late to save the tech.

I too hope that something is said in regards to LED. I have a 40 inch Samsung right now, and I was going to upgrade to a 52 inch, but decided to put that off in hopes that I might be able to pick up an affordable LED in March or so. The 950 is just way out of my price range.

Over at AVS, they've been talking about the 2009 Samsungs and they sound real slick, I'm just curious about the price.

I also hope to hear something about 3D and Blu that involves polarized glasses instead of the traditional blue/red glasses. I'm sure this would probably require a new display and Blu-Ray player but still interested in it for the future.

There is an entire enormous hall devoted to car tech. I was amazed when I saw the floor
plan for that hall. I will be checking out a few booths in that hall for kicks btw...
