And the fact that we had to wait close to 2 years to do what HD DVD was capable of doing since launch.

I am sure that they failed to mention that only profile 2.0 players (Which no current BD players in mass circulation) can use this feature...right?

Once again, your attempt to spread misinformation fails. They mentioned it specifically, including the use of BD-Live badges and notices on BD players and documentation.

Zombie, is there any word of Sony issuing just a 1.1 profile player for those who don't need the BD Live feature?

I hope they'll be encoded at a decent bit rate and don't have audio/video sync issues. If true this will be great! I hate having to use all this terrible software to rip/encode all my DVDs that don't even do a good job of it.

What does it matter? Don't use it if you don't want it, or buy a 1.1 player from another manufacturer.

Because I prefer Sony's quality on their players and I'd rather not have to pay the extra price for the 2.0 feature.

So all current BD owners were made aware by the BDA that the players that they invested their money in, cannot be upgraded to 1.1 or 2.0?

Who's lying and spreading FUD now?

"Leonard starts talking up SAW 4 to help pass the time. Now we can finally see what the box looks like, but we're not sure how they can enter data so fast with that remote, the comments are just flying.

This is a commercial ready disc, will be available in two weeks."

So, this is going to be available in 2 weeks? Will the PS3 be getting its 2.0 upgrade in that time, like with the 1.1 update coming out prior to RE3 and Sunshine?

Mass adoption doesn't come with less confusion, mass adoption comes from lower prices.

I'm sure the PS3, which as everyone loves to point out basically *is* blu-ray, will be updated in time for the release of BD Live discs.

I agree. PS3 should get a 2.0 update. Doesn't mean it will, but it should, in time for the first 2.0 movie. Its funny how Panasonic released a 1.1 player with no eithernet jack, so those wishing to have the HD-DVD features on Blu Ray are pretty much A/O (_|_)

What they need to be talking about is DTS-HD Master Audio for the PS3.
