Default Microsoft gets MGM library on xbox live

I'm live at the Keynote and this was just announced. The entire MGM movie library will be available in HD on Xbox live along with Disney and ABC TV.

Their real HD intentions are becoming much more clear...

Yup, seems like that rumor about MS wanting WB to jump into xbox marketplace was true to some degree.

the only mention of any type of alternative xbox so far has been BT (british/uk telecom/cable co.?) using the xbox as an iptv STB.

Um, given all of the emphasis on getting MGM/Disney, etc. onto the xbox marketplace, I would say HD DVD is becoming more and more of a bastard stepchild.

for all of those people who bashed Michael Bay, all of his statements have seemed to come true. Imagine that, a Hollywood director actually knowing more than internet forum people!

engadget is live blogging the event BTW.

m$ is hoping people can live with "mp3" movie mentality now tho b/c the internet speed isn't there yet. Thus a reason why prolonging the war was in their best interests....

British Telecom will be the first to bundle the XBOX 360 with their IPTV offers as a set-top box.

but, what about the super duper mega ultimate 360 with built in HD DVD?

oh boy, MS has seemingly tossed Toshiba to the curb, just like everyone else except Uni and Paramount. Come on Uni and Paramount, all of the cool kids are doing it!

it really does seem like MS backed hd dvd just to stall time and position themselves and their technology more so to push their true agenda.

damn, Toshiba got played by everyone (WB, MS...)

At Blu-ray Prices and lack of functionality of a $99. player.....optical HD will dry up.

Yes, because DVD dried up back in '99 when there weren't any $99 players.

Oh, wait, it didn't.

Give up, your posts are no longer connected to reality.

There were no other alternatives in 99 like down load is today and is in the future. Say what?

Yes, the fact that they never believed in HD DVD is very apparent now. And you won't be able to enjoy your Hanna Montana until the system is ready unfortunately. You need to listen to what Gates says clearly. It's not there yet. I don't see it working unless they begin shipping xbox's with 1TB drives which means you will need to compromise something on their download service unless each movie download is 30GB.

The only thing the CES Microsoft event showed is MS played Toshiba and they wanted both the fail. I hope fanboys can see that now. How much more evidence do people want.

Look at my posts. You don't think Blu-ray Marketing isn't helping?

Question about the MGM library...doesn't Warners own the pre '68 library and another company the remaining years? So which did they get?
