Default Wow, look at all these mass-market priced blu-ray players!!

Not.

Figures. No more HDM for me. 2008 is going to be a real lousy year.

It should be observed by all those claiming that, for whatever reason, the supposedly "unfriendly" pricing of most current and upcoming BD players is a problem, that they are:
(i) the same as the HD machines from about 1 year ago
(ii) cheaper than the prices of the standalone BD machines that lost HD Warner Bros.

Sore loser and purposely spreading misinformation? A credit to your format.
  • Fact: $400 Blu-ray players outsold $200 HD DVD players during the holidays.
  • Fact: At least two BD players have been announced at under $400
  • The price is the same all you fanbots were saying was consumer-level last year
  • Fact: All Blu-ray players announced at CES are at a minimum Bonus View/1.1
  • Fact: The only player to do every interactive function and decode every codec is a Blu-ray player
  • Fact: No new HD DVD players have been announced
  • Fact: HD DVD has no press conference, only took 5 minutes from Toshiba themselves

Yes, I know facts were too hard for you to bother with. That's why we're here.

Hey, it was STOLEN from me, get it? I can't afford a blu-ray. CANNOT AFFORD.

Love the way you all think it would be some kind of crime to release a 1080i/720p basic player so the rest of us could watch some of your movies too. Its great being a second class citizen in this. Really great.

Said it before and I'll say it again. If you can't afford a $300 Blu-ray player, you shouldn't be spending your money on buying movies. Period.

Yes, thanks for verifying I am a second class citizen. Very nice. Do movies cost $300? Didn't think so.

Make up your mind. Are they not for the mass market, as your post claims, or are they not for you, which is your own little reality but not the actual outside world?

If it's the former, that's your fault, so you have only yourself to bitch at. If it's the latter, well then you're straight out lying.

$350 is a pretty crappy price for a standalone BD player considering for $50 more you can get the 40GB PS3. They need to get these profile 1.1 players under $300, preferably under $250.

I can sympathize, although you bought into a fairly expensive market with the Walmart sale. HDM was only getting cheap because of the war, or else movies would still probably be $30 IMO. Someone has to lose the war.

If that is the attititude of the BDA then so much for mass market adoption of HDM. Standard DVDs have nothing to fear from BD...

I actually know a couple of people (now granted I think they are a bit strange for this fact) who don't even own a $30 DVD player!
