Default Will HD-DVD be downplayed at CES?

Sony and Toshiba's booths are right next to each other on the CES floor plan.

Blu-ray Disc Association and HD-DVD Promotion group are right next to each other on the CES floor plan.

Will HD-DVD be downplayed at CES?
Will the warner switch be downplayed at CES?
Will the Toshiba Booth Reps still be encouraged to talk about HD-DVD or focus on other Toshiba product?
Does anyone have booth photos for Toshiba or the HD-DVD promotion group?

Those are going to be long days for the HD reps, standing their next to the new dominant media format.

it all depends what HD DVD can come up with. Right now, I know they have been up for hours just thinking...so it depends on that

It would certainly be in HD DVD's best interest to be showcasing all the interactivity that will not be available on Blu-ray until when...yeah, that's right. No one knows. Unless Warner decided to shelve all that interactivity (it would save on development costs which would help offset higher replication costs), their decision runs counter to all statements made previously about what they want from a next-generation format. Toshiba has the better product and it will hopefully show past Warner's move.

Hell yeah they are! The BDA is going to have an orgy of happiness and joy at there booth!!! Now they dont have to push BD Profile 2.0 players at cheap prices because HD-DVD will in deed die out this year. Get ready for Sony to own the media market (home video and video games).

Sorry but Sony will not own the video game market. That belongs to Microsoft and Nintendo. Microsoft will not lose the advantage it has over sony because of this news. Even if HD DVD is gone, if was just an add on. Games are more important to XBOX than movies.

You think Microsoft is a bigger player than Sony in the game market?! HAHAHA The playstation 3 outsold the Xbox 360 in December AND The playstation franchise has sold 10 times more units than the microsoft one.

I will. Playstation franchise... ~250 Million and counting....
Xbox Franchise.. ~40 Million and counting...

You'd be an idiot with no common sense at all to see who is the bigger player in the videogame industry. Just because the 360 came out a year earlier and has more games out currently, doesn't mean that it is the most successful system with the most successful manufacturer.

FYI...Sony is Bigger than Microsoft but I suppose you want stats on that too?

In the longer term, the XBox 360 is destined for third place. It doesn't sell in Japan. Personally, I still find this somewhat surprising. Whatever else you may think about the console, it would seem to be reasonable to expect the 360 to have a roughly equal appeal to the same kinds of people across Europe, Japan, and the US. But it just doesn't. The PS3 rapidly eclipsed the total lifetime sales of 360 in Japan.

In Europe the PS3 has only been out for 9 months and it is quite quickly closing the gap to the 360. In around another six months the 360 and PS3 will be at equal total units sold. After that, the installed base of PS3s will start over taking the 360.

idk, but If i were an hd camp person, i'd be firm about hd dvd and i'd be promoting samsung and lg df players like there's no tommorow... It'd be a joke trying to downplay warner considering it is the biggest studio out there.

dude! you are so glib. Comparing 3 generations of console and games (starting when there was only playstation and n64) to a 2 generations one. Sony has sure made a lot more money than microsoft in games so far, but there is absolutely no way to deny microsoft is winning this generation's fight over sony. The only potential contender here is the wii.

The 360 is only winning over the PS3 in North America. The PS3 is 7 million consoles behind the 360 in NA. It'll be interesting to see if that gap can be closed over the next 2 or 3 years.

If you will read, it was never about who is "winning the generation" is was about who is a bigger figure in the video game industry.

Alright, I guess you're right. But tell me why the PS3 has such a lack in games right now? Please dont tell me because its only been out for a year, cuz so did the wii and they got 3 times the games. Even the 360 had more games a year into it
