According to an article written on the 6th of December on blu-ray(dot)com, War is supposed to have a networked game: www(dot)blu-ray(dot)com/news/?id=733
But maybe it doesn't. Alternatively, perhaps the option to play the game is simply not offered because it doesn't detect a Profile 2.0 player environment? Similar to how the 1.1 PiP features are not offered in the disc menu when playing Resident Evil on a Profile 1.0 player. -

Why spend all that time, effort and money to introduce new hardware when your competitor (HD DVD) is intending to body slam you? As the Fox guy says, CES 2008 is war over. With some exceptions, it's still probably safe to say that a number of the major BD manufacturers aren't planning on giving new high-def hardware specifics during the show that officially kicks off in Las Vegas on Jan. 7. For example, one is pushing back any new formal announcements until the spring. -

1. no, they said samsung is going df only because they canceled the two other bd players and only released the df player
2. Toshiba is not the only HD DVD brand you can get... you can buy a microsoft, or a venturer, or an rca, or you can buy an lg df, a samsung df, or an onkyo, or if you are loaded, you can have an integra custom installed...
if ur making that argument, the sony ps3 is the only bd player.no signature pics allowed here? = lame -

The key thing to watch will be whether Funai and/or a Chinese company delays their demo or official announcment of an inexpensive BD player. If the A3 platform is expected to come out in generic Chinese packages this April, then there may be some second thoughts afoot about releasing new hardware at this time on Blu-ray.
But BD 2.0 features should be demoed lavishly during the CES. If these do not appear at CES, there are some real problems with the implementation of these at this time.
No matter what some Java folk maintain, BD-J is a bitch for both hardware and programmers. Only the PS3 seems robust enough to handle the challenge.
BD needs to speed up implementation of web interactive features to please both studios and some consumers (other consumers claim these features don't matter).
BD also needs to announce a very cheap player. Actually they needed one before the holiday season began. If BD had shared a cheap platform with the Chinese, HD DVD would be far behind in the rear view mirror by this time.
As far as profit margins for the CE manufacturers, their dream is to manufacture players on the cheap in China and sell them at a premium to consumers. What they have now with DVD is low cost of manufacture and low margin of profit on the players. Toshiba seems to be satisfied with extending the DVD sales model (high volume, low profit) to HD DVD. -

I think it would be a good idea for neither side in this "format war" to count on Warner going exclusive. Producers of both formats need a "Plan B."
