Portable movie files to be included on future BDs!
http://kotaku.com/gaming/blu+ray-sho...vds-227862.php
So apparently they could put a portable (PSP version!) version of say Pirates of the Carribbean on the Pirates of the Carribbean Blu-ray disc. That would be sweet.
I don't ever plan on getting a portable gaming system (even though I like the PSP) because I can't imagine when I would use it, but I would like to have a portable version of the movie I bought to play on my MP3 player.I love all High-Def media regardless of format.
My home theatre:
HDTV: LG 55" Passive 3D LED HDTV 240Hz
Receiver/speakers: Yamaha YHT-270 5.1 650 Watts
Blu-ray player: PlayStation 3 20GB with a 250GB drive installed
HD DVD player: Xbox 360 Elite + HD DVD Drive
Cable: Comcast Digital Cable with HBO, Showtime & DVR (HD channels 1080i)
Remote: Logitech Harmony One -

That sounds great. They're really making a lot out of the PSP/PS3/Blu-ray inter-relationships.
got Blu? -

Makes sense. The best counter to piracy has historically been to make the files too big to practically copy. BD50 currently makes downloads painfull enough. Then to keep the consumer happy why not provide a LQ version on the same disk.
You still want the HD version but having both ends the vast majority of the DRM complaints. -

Nothing too revolutionary, but a nice benefit. There are programs now that let you make "back-up" copies of your movies you already own and then convert them into a PSP playable format.

Take it with a grain of salt guys. Sony threw the key words in there.

If this does happen, wouldn't you need to have a Blu-ray drive on your computer in order to get the file off of the disc and transfer it to your memory card, or am I missing something? Is this something that is only going to be catered to those with PS3s as their BD drives?

Can't see what the fuss is about - people have been doing this for years anyway!

True, the hassle is the main reason I have not used the PSP for video!

agreed. Currently, there is many movies that I own on so many formats. For example, Xmen 3, I have on Blu-ray, DVD and UMD. Of course from now on, if a movie is coming out on Blu-ray and DVD, i will no longer be getting the DVD but it would be nice if the Blu-ray purchase also covered my UMD purchase.

I didn't realise anyone bought UMD's - I've only got one (Spider Man 2) and that's because it was free!

I think the idea is that instead of you worrying about ripping a movie and going through the hassle, you can buy just the Blu-ray and have it work both as a blu-ray movie and as a PSP movie. Makes it nice and convenient
