Default Blu-ray reading material from CES

I scanned this from the material I picked up at the blu-ray booth.

I will say they have a good marketing going but I will never bet against Microsoft.

This also shows the fate of blu-ray is dependant on the sales of the PS3.

Hard to read it all, but thanks for scanning it, it'll take a while to get through it.

Quick question: Who here believes that Sony will sell 4 Million PS3s and 6 Million world wide by the end of March? That would mean they have to out-pace their launch/first month sales by about 2.3 times resulting in 1.17million consoles each month.

I don't, but we all know that Sony will use units shipped, not sold - which is pretty meaningless anyways, except in terms of supply.

LOLOLOL! No expensive add-ons! (We just work that cost into the system and charge everyone.)

Although the actual price of the Blu-ray isn't really in the price of the PS3 is it?
PS3 selling for $200 below cost, Blu-ray cost = $150.

Thanks for the scan Moe!

Take off that $150 and PS3 goes head to head with XB360 on pricing. Gaming performance they've show to be equal give or take, the price/main feature difference was the mandatory inclusion of a HD-Format drive.

Step aside, Playboy magazine! This little publication will be keeping Blu-Ray fanboys busy on those cold, lonely nights for the next month!

Now that's lame, of course it is below cost but you still pay the extra. I am skeptical your numbers are correct, but even taking them at face value then:

1. remove Blu-ray player, bring price of 60Gb unit "cost" down to $ 649.
2. Give expected $200 reduction for unit and you are down to $449 for the 60Gb unit.

Still a bit expensive for a unit, but much more competitive with the 360.

I'm used to reading on screen, it's just that the printing process doesn't go well with the scanning process and in parts it's hard to read. Really appreciate it, I've been looking into the research firms mentioned in the statistics. Been trying to figure out how "Understanding and Solutions" works and what service they provided. They don't give too much depth on their website.

I don't believe they will hit 4 - 6 million target either. Originally they said they would have 2 million sold by end of 2006 and that didn't happen.

The only way they hit that target is if they lower the cost by $200 bucks

Yeah they were spewing all this stuff at the booth and I wanted to say so much but I let it go. I didn't want to be escorted out of CES

I'm going to gather more stuff today at the HD-DVD camp and stay for the demo.

So it is a single drive unit? Why do all the mockups show 2 drives? DO you have a pic of the actual stand-alone unit?

Sony doesn't think VOD is a threat to them? I think it's a threat to both camps. I can see using blu-ray as a storage media.
