He also mentioned that Warner Brothers will reach parity between the two formats by Summer of 2007.

He also mentioned that Disney and Fox will make it clear during CES that they will continue to exclusively support only Blu-ray and they will try to put to bed the rumours that they may support HD-DVD during 2007.

Asked about LionsGate going nuetral and he had no information.

He also mentioned that Universal will solidly stay in HD-DVD's court for 2007 but he has spoken to "higher-ups" who say Universal will be releasing on Blu-ray in early 2008.

2008 is so far away and so much could happen in that time frame that you might as well just say that Disney, Fox, Universal Etc. are all staying put in terms of thier respected support for each format but in 2008 that could change. Its pointless debating anything else regarding this and what some guy high up says in one of these studios regarding what will happen that far down the road is completly insignificant.

Again 2008 is a year away and anything could happen in terms of studio support so I am just not buying the all BD studios are staying absolutly put and maybe HD-DVD's studios will switch in 2008. Bottom line is nobody is switching soon and the only thing that will dictate wether studios switch is in fact the sales from 2007. The way he skewed it towards BD is comical.

From a Sony rep no less. Because, you can always expect them to be non-biased, honest and completely factual. After all, they have such a good track record with honesty. Did someone say rootkit? LG's announcement makes studio loyalty a moot point. The decisive victory Sony needed has not happened and all indications are that they are losing. I fully expect Lionsgate to go neutral this CES and that would be a major victory for HD DVD. Regardless, by Blu-ray not being able to outsell HD DVD from the beginning it only helps HD DVD's already superior reputation.

The report loses credibility when it says Universal will support in 2008. If they made a decision to support Blu-ray, they would do it sooner. Saying that they are "waiting" for 2008 means its bunk.

Actually I have heard through other sites that Universal struck a deal with the HD DVD group that if they released a $500 Universal would release only on HD DVD and release big name movies like King Kong. The deal runs through to 2008, so it would be in keeping with this new rumour that has surfaced.

This is not something that I have heard anywhere, so I take that with a grain of salt. I doubt Universal would sign any such agreement in a binding way - I am sure they can do whatever they want.
