Default Disney Release Dates?

Does anyone know if there is a release schedule for older titles such as Aladdin, The Lion King, Little Mermaid etc. I know Sleeping Beauty is coming, just wondering how long we will have to wait for more.

I know I'm right there with you. I want Aladdin, Hercules, and Tarzan.

Pinnochio is coming February 2009. Those titles will not be released like average releases, a big deal will be made about them, so they could just start coming in 'Special Editions', but they only release two 'Platinum Editions' per year (Like Sleeping Beauty), they decided not to release 101 Dalmations: Platinum Edition earlier this year.

They reason they skipped 101 was because they wanted their first Blu-ray Platinum Edition to be one of the landmark classics like SB. It was a strategy decision. Disney is probably going to take centuries cranking out these films, like they did on DVD. I just want to see MovieMail, MovieChallenge, MovieChat and Live MovieRewards added to the existing Platinum DVDs and it would be good. Hopefully we won't be waiting 10 years to finish off collecting them.

Well of course, I'm anxious to see what Disney does with 4:3 films. Will they leave it as is, or include a 'widescreen' 'zoomed in' version of some sort for the average consumers. I'm sure there will be lots of complaints.

I too am interested to see how Disney treats 1.33:1 films (like the upcoming Pinocchio) to Blu-Ray. Personally, I think it would be great if they made a cropped 1.66:1 version for wide tv's IN ADDITION to the original 1.33:1. That way they cover the bases. With the short runtime of Disney films and a BD-50 this could easily be accomplished without impacting video or audio quality.

Disney originally stated that they would release one platinum title per year, then they upped it to two. My guess is that in 2010 they will up that number to 4, with one release per quarter. For 2009, Pinocchio is scheduled. The fall '09 Platinum title will be announced inside of Sleeping Beauty's chapter insert as a tradition. The titles up for re-release shortly are likely either Beauty and The Beast, Snow White, Lion King or the Fantasia films should be the next release in October of '09. My money is on Beauty and the Beast.

wrongo.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...mated_features

all of those have been out before, just in numerous editions. gold collec, limited issue, platinum line, 2disc special eds.....yatta yatta.

the main disney titles such as those mentioned will NOT be pumped out on blu, only if/when they are released from the vault next. they time their releases to have approximately 1 to 2 years shelf life, then 4-8 years out of print. keeps the demand high, and it makes people rebuy 'em. they'd sell millions more if they kept them all in print, but then, the demand wouldn't be crap, and new parents (ahem) always want to get this stuff, so it will always sell.

also, moving this to wishlist/when is.

It would be nice for Disney to announce what they are planning to do with Blu-ray releases of its classic animation films because all we know currently is that the platinum releases will get a Blu-ray release at the same time. But what about all the other films?
