Default Jaws (1975)

Wait, that isn't how I normally start these posts.... where's the theatrical poster? Oh, well - who cares. The above is better than some damn poster.... it a picture of the greatest fucking actor of all time - Richard fucking Dreyfuss.

.......

Okay, maybe that was a little excessive.....

Anyway, Jaws needs HD. HDNet used a very clean version of the film a few weeks ago and I'd like to see that (or possibly an even better restoration) on BD.

DTS-HD MA, two disc set (BD-50, BD-25). All the extras from the previous DVDs plus some new exclusives would be welcomed.

This would be a must own for me, but since this is a catalog Spielberg title, we won't see this until 2020

Not necessarily.... Spielberg doesn't actually have any say with this title. He doesn't own it - there was nothing is his contract for this film stipulating control of things (because he was a young buck with no pull).

Jaws is owned by Universal and Universal alone... of course, the 'Berg and Uni have a good releationship so they would probably ask for his blessing before a BD is issued but they don't have to (unlike other S. Spielberg films).

For better or for worse, Universal and Spielberg's relationship is such that for all intents and purposes, he may as well own and control Jaws. Universal will not do anything with Jaws unless Spielberg signs off on it. Period. So unfortunately we won't see it until Spielberg says we see it, regardless of the fact that he does not contractually control it.

We already have CE3K. also Jaws hit DVD in 2000, just over 3 years after the format launch.

The wait may not be as a long as you think.

Hope we get the option of original lossless mono when it's released.

Its an absolute no brainer that we'll see Jaws on BR before long.

When is the next 3xth anniversary due?
