American Beauty

i would totally love to get American Beauty on BD!!! Hopefully we will see it along the release of Revolutionary Road it should be coming out around the 10th anniversary of American Beauty, it would be great if we could get a new special edition. I know the theatrical version is the definitive version but there were a lot of sub-plots that were shot and later cut particularly Spoiler Below

they shot scenes of the Colonel framing Ricky and Jane for Lester murder and his wife finding his bloody T shirt and a sub-plot about the Colonel having a gay lover who died in Vietnam

I'm not sure if any of that last bit was actually shot, but the first part was and its really annoying because in the Commentary Sam Mendes refers to how you can see the scenes in the outtakes WHICH ARENT INCLUDED!!! i don't want to see a re-cut or extended version but i would like to see the deleted scenes as well as maybe a good retrospective documentary or a good less EPKish making of documentary than the one included, it would be great

I heard it's the director's fault that no deleted scenes were included with the DVD and VHS special editions... Really sucks that he'd get all high and mighty and prevent the home release from being all that it could be. This is one of my favorite films and I will buy it right away if it ever comes out in HD.

if you watch the special features, you'll see that some of the cast-and-crew interviews were shot in a courtroom. that's because they were shooting the courtroom scenes for ricky and jane's trial after being framed by the colonel.
