Microcosmos / Winged Migration

This is both a 'wish' request and a comment on the HDNet Movie airings of the two: I know that at one point early on, Sony was going to release Winged Migration as it's initial batch of bluray titles, but what I saw on HDNet was startingly bad for a 2001 film, the print that got sourced for the HD scan was terribly marred with a lot of nicks and print imperfections - the image (when clear) looked almost 3D at times, but it didn't hide the fact that it didn't look like a truly clean print could be located. I'm hoping Sony when and if this reannouced for BR release - it's not what I saw on HDNet.

As for Microcosmos - wow, I had seen it once before in 35mm but in HiDef - simply amazing - the movie made me itch. At times, the clarity and intense closeups of the varied bugs looked like they were either going to crawl or fly out of the screen. The 5.1 soundmix is both aggressive and completely captivating - the sourndfield is so wide and encapsulating this mix puts current Hollywood fare to shame. Add to the mix the amazing camera work which matches in style and clarity to Planet Earth - a true 1080p bluray disc edition screams out demo-worthy.
