I vacuumed mine the other day. Don't think it made much difference. I try to keep the right side in open air to let the exhaust out into open space.

I've vacuumed my 60 gig PS3 several times and have gone as far as to open it up and clean all the dust out completely a couple of times. Unfortunately it didn't prevent me from getting the yellow light of death twice now. The solder connecting the CPU to the motherboard has problems with heat.

I've noticed my PS3 goes to high fan mode all the time now. It used to do that just when the ps3 was doing something really intense...

Yah I have a glass 3 shelf stand TV stand. My 60GB PS3 launch series has plenty of room to breeathe and I haven't had any problems. I vacuumed the vents with my Dyson for the first time the other day. Probably should have done that consistently from the get-go but no problems whatsoever so far. I have read some posts where people say they suspect certain updates are to blame. I haven't been required to update to the most recent (2.76) update. Maybe I should try to skip to the next if that ends up being feasible.

Mine seems to do that every now and then when I watch a DVD/BD. I dust my PS3 every two-three weeks or so. I have mine on a TV stand sitting on a glass shelf. Maybe I outta move it to a more larger space...

I run the vacuum on the vents every once in a while. Never seen it really clogged but definitely cleaned it out a little. I also wipe it down with a microfiber clothe.

AH,cool. SO the swiffer gets the hair off but doesn't scratch the screen? Nice. I will have to employ that strategy.

My room is extremely dust, I dont understand why, and my cat likes to sit close by to my PS3. I use compress air every other day and vacuum with a "Shark" and it keeps the inside pretty clean.

I have this condition. If we talk for too long, I'll forget how we started. Next time I see you, I'm not gonna remember this conversation. I don't even know if I've met you before. I've told you this before, haven't I?

Canned air is good for keyboards, but I wouldn't use it for your PS3.

The main reason is that it pushes air ... it doesn't pull air.

You really don't want to push dust and lint at a high speed into your PS3.

What did you do to repair the PS3? Warranty replacement? buy a new one??

Somebody said that having someone open it up and put heat sink compound on the CPU will fix it and reduce high fan mode.

My original 60GB seems to be running hotter now than it used to. For me it's a seasonal thing too, since we keep the house hotter in the summer. A little preventative maintenance might be good.

i've got 4 ps3's (different areas of the house and different coloured ones from japan)

and i vaccum them at times and have had no problems, i've even opened one of them up to blow the dust out (with those compressed air cans) as the warranty is over and its in an area that attracts a lot of dust.
