My Tyson import still isn't working, even with the 2.8 firmware update. Has anyone tried any of the other problem imports?

Match Point still a no-go. They didn't fix whatever problem was introduced.

It is now August-1-2009 and Sony still hasn't fixed this problem with the Blu-ray disc titled "Jethro Tull Live at Montreux 2003". Sony invented Blu-ray and designed the Play Station so just what are they doing about this? They were sure keen and made lots of promises when Toshiba was nipping at their heels with "HD-DVD".

My question is why don't US and Japanese PS3s play PAL-encoded BDs? is 1080i50 not compatible with HDTVs in the US or Japan?

In general HDTVs in Japan and I think in U.S. as well don't support 1080i50 or 576i (SD PAL) and regular old TVs don't support PAL either. However, U.S. and Japanese PS3 doesn't play such content even if you hook it up with a TV that supports it. I guess they figured this kind of formats don't need to be supported in Japan or U.S. because local content is not using those specs. Couldn't have been too difficult to enable it because Hong Kong PS3 (region A also) seems to support it as do the European ones as well of course. Maybe it's just blocked with firmware without any technical reason to do so.

Anyway, I got myself an LG BD370 so I can now play 1080i50 and SD PAL on my HDTV as the player converts to a format that my TV supports. Just as long as the content is not region B locked...

My region-free 2 Entertain studio discs are now getting to the BBC HD screen (which is new), but remain black at the menu and I can't get past.

Any ideas?

As before, these discs are region-free and work perfectly on my Vaio.
