Default PS3 mkv firmware update?

Just wondering if this is planned at all? seems strange that they wouldn't release this as a firmware update since it places the majority of other files. Any info would be appreciated!

Very good question. Unfortunately I was plagued with "Linksys <--> PS3" media problem so I never got a chance to use this feature on the PS3. Whenever I turned on "media connect" or whatever the PS3 uses it would kick everything off my network

From what I understand, there is no file size limit when running the file from the PS3s internal HDD or streaming. Running from an external drive is a problem because it does not accept HSF+ or NTFS file formats.

That was for avi's and they fixed that a couple updates ago. I have no problem saving 4+GB m2ts files.

Well I just had an issue yesterday with a mk2-to-m4v that was 6+GB and it would not play until I dropped it under 4GB.

No limit when Streaming (TVersity etc) if you use NTFS

I'm on Mac and my drives are formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I use TwonkyMedia for media server.

Maybe it is TwonkyMedia limiting me... idk

Why on earth would they do MKV support? 99% of people that want MKV are basically downloading torrents illegally. That would be a stupid move to support MKV container...

I'd rather they start supporting external sub files like .srt files. sheesh, it's been too long for those of us who rip foreign movies to our drive to watch.
