Default Problems playing DVD on PS3

Hello. I've got a 40GB PS3 which has been incredible. I love everything about it. However, I tried playing a DVD and it was not recognized. I tried 2 different DVDs with the same result. Is there some sort of setting I need to enable or change? This is kind of troublesome. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The red laser might be bad. Try using a can of air inside the slot. If that doesn't help and you are positive it is not a Region issue, you'll need to call Sony.

I can't go that route, because this was purchased from a third party on ebay. Given this fact, would Sony even accept it to fix? I'm thinking it would be at my expense, no? It plays Blu-rays and games fine so I may just live with it.

Did you try one of those lens-cleaning disks? It couldn't hurt.

Yeah...If it was me, I may just live with it as well. Just as long as your and games work fine. Still...the does a great job upconverting. Did the third party tell you it is in fine working condition?? You spend your hard earned money on something...everything should work as it should. Your call.

file a dispute on paypal if the seller wont replace it or cover the cost for repairs

once the seller see's a dispute they are likely to give in as usually paypal sides with the buyer almost always if u show at least a half assed effort to win the case
