Default Possibility To See a New Chipset In The PS3?

I was just wondering if it was possible that Sony will start releasing the PS3 with a new chipset inside to allow lossless audio to be sent through bitstream?

If they do that they ought to make it look more like something that belongs in a home theater, too.

It is possible, but I am not sure that Sony is too worried about that as the PS3 can decode all the audio codecs supported by Blu-Ray.

Nah, probably won't happen. Sony has their stand alone BD players to sell.

Why on earth would you want to? the Cell is far better equiped to cope with decoding than the chipsets in amps, and the Cell is a software based solution thats always upto date.

Even if I had the option of bitstreaming or PS3 decoding and sending as lossless PCM, I would always chose the later, for the reasons mentioned.
