Default GT5 Prologue: Download or buy?

I am new to the PS3 world, and love the GT series. I noticed that this game is available via the PS Store, and I believe it is also available on disc. Is there any differences between the 2, or any recommendations of whether to download vs. buy? If no difference, I would lean towards buying the disc, as I can share it or sell it used later.

don't buy it is my recommendation. read the reviews and if you can, rent it first. if you decide to buy it afterall, get the game on a disc. that way you save hd space on your ps3 and you can probably get the game new or used cheaper than the psn store anyways.

I think the disc version includes some cgi movies not in the psn version, although they may be available for separate download.

All of the GTTV content that comes with the game is included on the disc, but will have to be downloaded on the PSN version. I would say get it on the disc, that way if you ever need to format or anything, you won't have to redownload the whole game again.

You don't save any disc space as the game will be installed on the HDD anyway.
A good thing about the disc is that unlike the downloadable version you don't need to be signed in to the PSN to play.
On the other hand the downloadable version eliminates disc swapping. You can do a quick race without walking ALL THE WAY TO THE SHELF and replacing MGS4 or whatever other disc you have in the drive.

One more reason to buy the disc instead of buying from PSN is that if you later decide its not for you you can always sell the disc to somebody else......you cant do that with a download

Agreed, I think they should have made the download cheaper, say 29.99, because they don't have to press the disc or ship it or anything of that nature so that are making more money on the download then if you buy it at the store...I would never download a game that I can have a actual copy of for the same price...

i would buy it, this is of course you are a fan of "simulations". lack of damage still hurts thisfranchise, but to give us a taste of what is to come, i appreciate PD for that. mp isnt bad either.

I'm waiting until the final version arrives

I feel this as some kind of glorifyed demo. I'm not paying for that. I want the real thing.

Be prepared for a long wait. Yamauchi (the creator) has already gone on record in interviews as saying that GT 5 isn't even currently on the radar because they're developing new content (GT TV, damage modeling, new tracks, etc) for GT Prologue, and so GT 5 may not even see a release until 2010, possibly later.

Well, hopefully Forza 3 will be out before it (GT5).

True. However, the good news is that the damage mapping and real-time weather (if it's raining in Germany, and you race in Germany, it will be raining in the game) are going to come out this year. They went on record to say this fall. I have no doubt it might get delayed a bit, but hopefully we'll see it before 2009 hits.

If you can give me an example of any other "demo" that has this much content I would be very interested to hear about it.

This isnt a "demo". Its the same thing they did with GT3 and GT4 (released a Prologe version so you had something to play whilst waiting for the full release) The only difference is that this is the first time it has been released in America (previously they were only available in Europe and Japan).

Forza 3 is very different than gt5.

for one forza 3 will come on two dvd 9 discs!!!

Forza two was a waste, it sucked in all areas from graphics, to lack of tracks and terrible online.

gt series have always expanded on the previous. Though gt4 was considered more like 3.5, it still was fun and enjoyable.

hopefully gt5 will add damage flesh out the ai.

GT5P is an excellent choice. The game is relatively inexpensive and has mindblowing gameplay and graphics in my opinion.

It's definitely a PS3 demo disc at my house - and it leaves people with their mouths open. I've actually had people walk into the room while I'm playing and ask what race I'm watching because they thought it was TV.

You can always spot the people who haven't played the game, because they're the ones that will call it a glorified demo etc. Lol -- this game has a longer singleplayer campaign than gears of war did, and a healthy multiplayer section. =P
