Does this mean the beginning of the end for Blu Ray?

I wonder what the resolution of the HD video will be...

I will be amazed if it will be 1080p with lossless audio. I can't imagine them streaming 30gb movies.

I'm more worried about the amount of compression than whether it's 720p or 1080p. I'd rather have a less compressed 720p movie than a 1080p one with twice as much compression.

Even if the video is 1080p, you still have to compare bitrate and audio specs. Could they offer us a Blu-ray comparable download?... yes. Will they?... doubtful. No one wants to wait for a 25gb - 50gb download to complete... nor will they want it to take up that much space on their hdd.

I'm guessing 720p with Dolby 5.1 lossy, with video comparable to the trailers on the network currently...my question is what time is the store supposed to go live?

Hmm, this makes me wonder if the ISP's are really going to start introducing monthly data caps. Download 1 HD movie and go over your limit.

Downloaded the princess bride in hd tonight for $4.50. It is presented in 720p and Dolby 2.0 surround. Download is very slow, picture is Avc, and I am very impressed with the result. I did not expect video quality for this title to look so good. Makes me want the long delayed Blu-ray even more!

Was $4.50 a rental price or did you buy it?

Why would it be the end of blu ray? I will never download a movie. I am sure there are lots of people just like me in that regard.

It is a rental, you can't buy HD movies (right now).
