can’t wait to see it.

So 3AM EDT, I might stay up. I wish it weren't so late.

I still don't get what this update does.

It adds trophy's similar to Xbox 360 but what games are going to support it? Future? Current?

What else does it do?

What is XMB?

I'm willing to bet MGS4 and hopefully GTA4 will support them as well.

In answer to the first question, it's fairly likely most recent games (MGS 4, GTA IV, etc) will either be patched for 2.40 or possibly even have the code built in and are waiting for activation. However, earlier games will definitely require a patch. Insomniac, for example, has already said that they won't be patching Resistance 1 for this, so it's up to the individual developers to decide whether they want to do it or not.

As for your second question, the other features that 2.40 will include are in-game XMB, which stands for "cross media bar," which is the "desktop" you see when you turn on your PS3. This essentially means that in-game messaging will now be active so if you receive a message and want to check it out and reply, or feel like sending a message to someone on your friends list you just got notified came online, you won't have to quit out of your game to do it anymore. All you'll have to do is hit your PS button on the controller to call up the XMB. It's also rumored that 2.40 may include a custom soundtrack feature, so that you'll be able to call up that in-game XMB and simply choose tracks from the songs on your PS3 and play those instead of the game track.

Agreed....but does it fix the Grand Theft Auto freeze problem??? I have put off buying this game until a fix is issued.

Got this installed last night (a surprise when I booted my PS3 up @ 8:30ish PST to play a PS2 game). I installed it all and fidddled with my profile a tad then started playing my PS2 game. Once I started I hit the PS button and to my dismay it seems that the ingame XMB is for ONLY PS3 games and so my quest for a clock while playing a game is still ongoing. Sad really as this was the main feature I was really looking for and was really the only critique I have with both the PS3 and Wii (Pressing the PS/Home button and not being able to know what time it is). I use the Clock on my 360 almost religiously while playing. I love all 3 of my current gen systems equally I just hope that such a simple feature can be added.
