Default PS3 Composite cord that comes with the machine

Does anyone know how to check and see if the composite cord is working with the PS3. I have tried to connect it to my projector with it and it did not work. I also hooked it up to 2 different TV sets with the composite and could not get it working. Just wondering if there is anything else I can do to see if it's the cord or something else

Thanks

Not sure why anyone would want to use a composite cable

But, were you previously using a HDMI connection? If so you will need to hard reset you console to reset the AV output.

Hard Reset: Turn off power switch in the back. hold power button on front and then turn back on power switch in the back continuing to hold the button on the front. After a few seconds, you will hear a few beeps and the PS3 will shut down.

If that doesn't work then you have a bad analog AV out port.

You don't need to bother with the switch on the back. Just have the machine in standby & hold down the button on the front 'till it beeps.

But yes ... composite

I haven't had to do a hard reset in a while, you used to have to flip the switch in the back. I'm guessing it was added in an update?

Dare I ask how many inch screen is this composite fed projector using.

Dunno dude. That was the procedure I told my mate back in feb after he'd taken it to a friends, changed the output to hdmi & not changed it back before he went back home to his crt (tho he's got a 1080p plasma now).

100"+ ??? ... <shudder>

LOL yes composite and it makes me shutter as well. But my projector will do component but I wanted to make sure the A/V connection worked before I bought a component cable.

The screen is 80 inches and it doesn't look too bad.

Thanks for the responses

i dont think you ever had to mess with the main power switch to change the output
you could always just do it from standby by holding the power button, not saying the other way doesnt work though
