Assasin's Creed PS3 help

I just bought it from Gamefly. It won't play on my PS3 it updates the patch but when it says press start to continue nothing happens. I even tried uninstalling the update, disabling internet and trying it without the patch. Do you think I can go buy a used one from EB or Blockbuster and see if it works, then return it? The disc from Gamefly doesn't have a skratch or smudge on it.

EDIT: unplugged GH3 wireless receiver and works
