I bought a 40gig PS3 this week from CC, it didn't come with Spiderman 3 (not that I cared anyways). But I had my friend who has the Spiderman 3 PS3 and the layout of the ports on the back of the unit are different. On his, the ports are all on the side near the power supply; on mine they are on the opposite side. I didn't see anything else different but I wasn't aware or had heard any news that there was a redesign of the 40gig version. It doesn't seem to be any quieter so I'm not sure what else changed.
Am I the only one who didn't know a change happened?

wow, that's news to me. I guess the free blu-ray is over with. I now feel fortunate since I received spiderman 3 and the 5 free blu-rays... It looks like they stopped carrying the 80gb as well... but I don't keep up with these things so it's probably old news

You may want to check how the HD is placed in the PS3 also. I know the way it "plugs in" is different on my 60GB Launch system vs. my Non-Spidey 3 40 GB (which I upgraded to a 250GB). I think it's mean as a cooling improvement or just different mobo... who knows though? ![]()
