PS3 Bluetooth Remote Question- HELP!

I switched out my 20 GB for a 60 GB and now I can't figure out how to re-program my remote. I have tried to follow the steps from the manual (hold down start and enter buttons and then run through the original set up steps), but to no avail.

Need help.

Replace the batteries. There isn't a way to tell if the batteries are dead on the remote except for when you press a button - nothing happens.

I hope it is that simple and I have just been an idiot for the past couple of months, lol. Thanks for the advice, appreciate it.

I just got this remote - question, is it "always on"? Meaning whenever I have the PS3 on, even when playing games, does it use the battery on the remote even if I don't touch it? I can't tell if it's always on, or when I press the PS button, it turns on.
