I held off on the HD DVD due to the sub par DD+ track. Heres to hoping the DTS-MA track on this captures the awesome launch sequence in all its glory!

Special Features?
How do they compare to the special features on the HD-DVD? Despite being (almost as) much as an audiophile as the next guy here, DD+ isn't going to sound different enough from true lossless to merit a double-dip.

I just transfered my HD-DVD copy the other day to Blu Ray, and I noticed the slightly weeker DD+ sound track. When I bought it a couple years back I thought it sounded pretty good, but after a couple years of DTS-HD sound tracks on many Blu Rays, I may quadruple dip ( LD, DVD, HD-DVD ).

imo this is ron howard oscar baiting garbage. it's just too gimmicky. good performances but one view is enough for me.

Yep. Its actually horrible. Booooooring in ever aspect. The launch scene was well done but once they got in space it just stopped being entertaining. How much of "Hey, go try to jam a paperclip into the modulator unit" can you take before it gets dull? Plus, We know what happens in the end and it isnt interesting whatsoever.
Like Titanic withOUT the boat sinking.... pointless.

i just can't stand 99% of ron howard's films and i think all they are are bait to get people to feel emotional connections to his films. i pretty much hate him, his only films i like of his are a beautiful mind and cinderella man, which are carried by crowe and are full of oscar bait as well. the former should not have come close to winning BP that year.
