I posted this over in the HD thread about this as well...since it really isn't format specific I thought I would share.

Can't wait for this, for what it is worth both versions were encoded in VC-1 so says the Producer for the disc Rob Sheridan who has handled the bulk of all visual NIN dealings over the last couple of Audio and DVD releases (he did the previous "And all that could have been" DVD release as well). Dual disc HD DVD and single layer Blu Ray. He has been sharing lots of information about the release at NIN's Spiral fan club of which I am a member. I would copy and paste the full details but its supposed to be exclusive and I don't want to risk treading into any copy right style grey areas. From what he says unless you have only the finest of the finest 10k+ displays the difference in image quality should be difficult to see.

On a side note unrelated to this I just wanted to thank Peter B for the excellent DVD and now HD sites he has done over the years. I have been a fan since the earliest of days of the DVD file. Keep up the good work sir! (Sorry for sucking up, just wanted to throw this out there.)

If any one has any other questions about this release let me know and I will dig around the fan club site to see if Rob posted any other details about it. It seems like there is more there I just can't recall what all was covered.

PG is bald already, so TR can't really turn into a bald version of him!

Trent does look great these days though - that's what not drinking and not getting f^&ked up every night will do to you. Trent has said that he doesn't really remember all that much of the Fragile tour from 2000 and so in 2006 he was able to get much more into it. Although the 1994 and 2000 tours were incredibly enjoyable, I've seen them 7 timjes overall since Aug 1994, there definitely was almost a throwback to the club tour of 1990 in this 2006 performance, despite the now typical video montage that's been custom in the last three tours.
It will be a great BD/HD DVD/DVD no doubt as Trent doesn't screw around. The SACD release of Downward Spiral is absolutely ridiculously good. I can't wait to hear the lossless audio on the new Blu-ray release, from what Rob Sheridan has said there should be a slight technical edge to the Blu-ray release because of the capacity. There has been no further word from him at the moment to outline exactly what this means.

I can't wait for this release!

Now if we can get a Bauhaus release, I would be even happier!

I purchase Virtual Fighter for PS3 at Bestbuy today and they were giving on a Blu-ray sampler of this free at Bestbuy when you purchase a PS3 game. Not sure how good it is.

Both versions have the exact same audio options:

Dolby TrueHD Surround
Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
Dolby Digital Stereo

One difference between both versions is angle switching. Blu-ray has real-time switching, and HD-DVD doesn't.

yeah... i read about the angle thing...

i think the blu-ray must have been updated... I could have sworn a while back that nin.com didn't mention trueHD at first...
