Default Universal Soldier: A New Beginning - January 5th

Amazon has the preorder up. Looking at IMDB it lists Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren returning for this one.

I've seen no footage of this either. No trailer, nothing.

Just looked up the IMDB page. It's being directed by John Hyams, Peter Hyams son. Peter Hyams is the director of photography on the project, though.

Peter Hyams did right by Jean Claude w/TimeCop and Sudden Death. I dig his cinematography and if his kid is half as good as his Pop's this should be somewhat entertaining. It's gotta be a heck of a lot better than Universal Soldier: The Return.

I agree that Universal Soldier: The Return wasn't that good so this should be interesting.

I am hyped just to see these two go at it one last time. The movie was screened at a film festival in Houston, TX. It faired ok, as neither Dolph nor JCVD are the main stars. Jcvd is a glorified cameo. and dolph I think has a total of 10 min in the film.

But they do duke it out. I am dissapointed no theatrical release.

For anyone disappointed in Van Damme for being in this on the heels of JCVD keep in mind two words...contractual obligation.

Which is fine, but his dumb ass should have jumped at the opportunity to be in The Expendable when Stallone asked him.

Turning down Stallone was the single biggest mistake he could have ever made. Hid big screen career will never return again. He commited career suicide. He deserves it for the dumb mistakes he has made. As a fan im so sick of his shit.

Default Universal Soldier

I bought the original Universal Soldier on Blu-Ray for like $10.

I loved the original movie, with Lundgren and JCVD.

I'm actually looking forward to renting this to see if it is any good. I don't know how they can bring back Lundgren's character, but I don't really care, just to see them go at it after all these years will be interesting.

Having not seen JCVD or what the guys look like in the last 5 years, it should be interesting.

I was a fan of Jean-Claude back in the day... I enjoyed TimeCop, Universal Soldier, The Quest, and all of the early action films he was in (Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Cyborg, etc.)

I hope it will be good, but am keeping my expectations low.
