Default Black and White Classics on Blu

once again we see Warner leading the way for the blu-ray format.
"The Maltese Falcon" coming next year.

Awesome news, and I'll buy it on Day 1 provided we get an actual case version and not a Casablanca-like set.

If they're going to do the deluxe packaging thing, it better come with a replica of the Maltese Falcoln itself.

I hope they do away with those massive deluxe sets... but a little maltese falcon sounds cool, actually.

Although I am looking forward to this release, I may rent it and hold off for a Bogart box set from them. Trying to learn my lessons from SD DVD.

There was a rumor of a November release of Maltese Falcon and Treasure of the Sierra Madre BD in France - but no listing on Amazon.fr yet, so I'd say it isn't going to happen. But if they're working on both, maybe a Bogart boxset is a possibility. I'd love for them to throw African Queen in there as well, but since that one is Paramount, it won't happen, so I'll settle for Key Largo.

This will be a buy for me. I have been very impressed with many of the black and white movies I have seen on Blu-Ray.

at least "Falcon" already got the sd redo a few years ago.
"Key Largo" has never even had a second release.
it looks pretty bad on dvd.
Hopefully all the major Bogart works will come out.
I mean Warner certainly can't leave out "The Big Sleep"
I'd have to put that one just after "Casablanca" and "Maltese"
I'm sure they will all come out eventually.
There are even others like "They Drive at Night", "Dark Passage", "High Sierra" and "To Have and Have Not" that will hopefully all come to bd one say.
all really cool films.

The African Queen would be a real treat, seeing as I had to import a DVD as it is. Really like to see that movie get some action.

Not technically a 'black and white' classic, though!

Sadly, I would probably get the Maltese Falcon replica. At least figures and things are more interesting than a watch... I did end up getting all the Lord of the Rings thingies when the gift sets came out.

I just ordered Casablanca this week and I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks on Blu. One of my favorite Bogart movie is Conflict but I'm not even sure if that one got a DVD release. I'm looking forward to getting The Maltese Falcon.

The Maltese Falcon will be a day-one purchase for me, too. If it has Bogart in it, I'm buying it.

Not yet, but be sure to check http://www.warnerarchive.com periodically, as it may well show up in the near future. Lots of second-tier titles from big stars are now coming out under the Warner Archive banner, and though quality has been spotty, I think they're working hard to get the more obscure titles out to fans.

Great news about 'Maltese Falcon'!! The DVD was virtually flawless, so the Blu-ray version should be spectacular.
