Thumbs up 'Legends of Jazz' -- High-Def Digest review

Though a jazz dummy, I checked out:

Great stuff. Looked quite good and sounded fantastic -- great to hear a Dolby TrueHD track on Blu-ray. Unfortunately, the show was way too short -- only 55 minutes. Otherwise, I would have given it a higher rating -- guess I'm selfish!

Are you sure the PCM track is 640 Kbps? I've never heard of such a low bitrate for a PCM track.

Got to check this out this past weekend and I must say what an amazing disc! Great performances and the one's I especially enjoyed were Ivan Lins, Jane Monheit and John Pizzerelli, Al Jarreau and Kurt Elling and Marcus Miller along with Lee Ritenout and George Due and also Clark Terry.

I was not prepared for how incredible the sound is on this disc. This is a reference disc and on the TRUEHD track, every nuance of every instrument and vocal comes along with this track. Perhaps it's the advantage of a studio recording over a venue, but this audio track absolutely rocks!

    Highly Recommended!!

Default This has been my demo disk for years!

I am a jazzer, and this disk is the real article. It's almost always the first thing I use to show off my theater. There's no beating its combination of first-rate musical performances, first-rate image, and first-rate sound.

Too bad it's out of print and trading at a premium because of that!
