Default 'Dexter: The Complete Third Season' - High-Def Digest Review

Tom has reviewed 'Dexter: The Complete Third Season.' He says the show is as good as ever. You gotta see it! This Blu-ray set features astounding video, awesome audio, and.... and..... no supplements? For that slap in the face to viewer this set is recommended, and not HIGHLY recommended like past seasons. You have to watch, but Paramount? Showtime? What gives?!!

I loved the Jimmy Smits character. It was a very good season. I think season 2 is my alltime favorite, but this was very good as well.

Anyways, I do enjoy this series and look forward to eventually picking this up! Good to see nice scores.

Yeah, the second season was so intense with danger coming at all angles it's really tough to top. Michael C. Hall and Jimmy Smits are fantastic, though. Too bad they got shafted at the Emmys last night, but at least they were still nominated which is an honor in itself.

Another STRONG season and the best show on TV IMO. Season 1 is still my favorite, but this and season 2 are right up there as well......awesome show!

I got a screener for the new season with the first 4 episodes on it. I've watched 2 so far and they are two of the most intense Dexter eps I've seen yet.

Default Dexter

We all know this is one of the best shows on TV, but no extras is a deal breaker for me. I've already seen the show when it was aired, so the main reason I would get the blu ray is for the extras. They really blew it on this one.

This is the first season where the formula is starting to become a little too apparent to me. It's still compulsively watchable (save for the "who gives a shit" subplot involving Dexter's half sister/her career/who shes fucking) but it follows roughly the same arch each year:

1. Dexter befriends someone similiar to him who he shouldn't.

2. Things unravel and come dangerously close to exposing Dexter.

3. Problem solved! For now! That was close!

But I keep buying it and keep watching it because, as I said, it's mostly engaging.

I'd like to echo the reviewers criticism of the lack of features, though. I bought this without paying too much attention to the fine print, as it was only a couple bucks more than the SD. Really disappointed all the features are BD Live. I can understand a few, perhaps exclusive, features, but all of them? Really disappointing. I almost would've picked the SD instead and I hate doing that.

I think the threat of being cut off from screeners by sharing them, outweigh your threat of chopping me up and dumping my parts into the ocean
