"Because no one brings up sex with dead people!"
I never understand why I'm the only person who loves this movie.

You are not the only one. One of my well liked flicks. It's definately got it's own style though, but I like it.

Yea, you're not alone. I really enjoyed this in the theatre and a couple times on DVD, even though it has its slow parts.
I'll be saving a spot on my shelf for it.

I was always surprised by Ryan Phillipe in this movie. Before this film, I only saw him in "teeny bopper" crap...so it was nice to see him step up to the plate in a more adult role. It seemed like he got a few more serious roles after this film too...imdb seems to back this up:
Before Way of the Gun...teeny bopper and really light comedy stuff like: Cruel Intentions, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Playing By Heart, Homegrown After Way of the Gun...more serious stuff life: Gosford Park, Igby Goes Down, Crash, Stop Loss, Breach etc. So, I actually kind of think "Way of the Gun" was the movie that showed he could handle some serious material. |

I love this movie, but I know it didn't do huge business. I'm surprised, yet happy, that this is getting a Blu-Ray release.

yeah, i like the film, the first half hour is absolutely superb, it just falls off a cliff the further it goes on, though.

I'm a fan of the film and really like the final shoot out sequence. Pretty much a Wild Bunch rip-off, but terrible fun. The whole movie is a bit of a rip-off actually, but who cares, the first act dialogue is superb. One of my favorite opening sequences ever.
Good ole Sarah Silverman. |

Definatly one of my favorite audio tracks. Soft and subdued at times, then it explodes with very visceral gun fire. Good minimalist soundtrack too.
Its still my favorite role for Benicio Del Toro. -Sean |

The more I think about this film and the horrible steaming pile that is Boondock Saints...I'm surprised Way of the Gun didn't become a similar cult hit, especially in that same undergraduate aged male demo.
I mean, they are both fairly unoriginal crime movies with gun fire and such. Only Way of the Gun has some pretty good dialogue and solid performances. Was it simply a fluke thing b/c Way of the Gun came out a year later? Hmmm...any forum members currently in undergraduate studies..go for it! Correct the wrongs of "cult status" history and start pushing Way of the Gun on any beer guzzling frat boy that tells you, "Dudeeee, Boondock Saints is awesomeeeee" Or just enjoy Way of the Gun on Blu-ray. Whatever. |
