Which is exactly the point. I could understand people not being bothered if Twilight had the transfer Gladiator does. Since its Twilight <- who gives a shit. But this is Gladiator we are talking about here. It deserves far better.

It's disappointing at best and sad at worst that many of the decisions crucial to films being released to retail are made by people that don't give a damn about the intentions of the creators and about the fans that want to own what they originally enjoyed.

I'm sure film fans on this site can recall a litany of reviews that led to their excitement diminishing as they read the news that someone along the bluray production line paid no attention to fans and decided to use a cleaver on a favorite of theirs.

Here's hoping Michael Mann was intimately involved in the coming release of Heat.

I can see how this post was relevant to the review of the movie - Hero.

    Default Uhh..

    Movie: 4 out of 5
HD Video Quality: 3.5 out of 5
HD Audio: 4 out of 5 Stars
Supplements got some sort of score and so did High-Def Extras.. Yet, 90% of the flicks that come through here have nothing.

and yet.. It's A Big Disappointment.

I'll tell you what I found to be a big disappointment, The scores that were given compared to the rest of the article.

I read the audio portion of the review and understood his reasoning just fine.

Fantastic review by Josh Z. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and I am very disappointed that the original language track isn't lossless. I don't know why the studios keep booting us the fans like this and keep putting out sub-par products.
I will rent it and will definitely look for an Asian version that is nicely done.

That was my reaction too. I saw those star marks for PQ, AQ, Movie Itself. Even the supplements and exclusive hi def content got a nod and then I read the bottom of the review. I was like .

I hate it when they dumb down the subtitles! Fortunately, in this case, it doesn't matter to me. But then there's the case of Let The Right One In... Grrrrr

I was really hoping for a new demo disc. To me the cinematography in the movie begged for it. I will still pick it up, though the less than perfect picture rating means I will not pay a premium for it as I would have if it were demo worthy.

Miramax stinx! Do they purposely try to sabotage their releases? I'll stick with my HK DVD import.

This could have been such a classic piece of epicness. Sadly, the English soundtrack was prioritized and would only lead to a NO BUY.
Simplified translation is just plain stupid as well.

Having my hopes up though. The mix and translation could easily be upgraded
