ICHI coming to US Dec 29/2009

I wanted to get the UK ICHI movie just released by Manga in the UK. But its region locked to region 2.

It seems in the US, Funimation is going to release ICHI in the US on Dec 29th.

ICHI is based on the ZATOICHI blind swordsman character, but in this one the lead is female.

Do you have proof of this? Do you own it? Because all online doc I have seen show it to be Region 2/B locked to Europe. Manga doesnt have the North American rights, Funimation does. I'd be more than happy to get the UK version if its region free like Tokyo Sonata, which I also ordered from the UK. The UK version is so much cheaper than importing a Japanese copy.

I have it and it really is region free. Noticed other discs at YesAsia marked Region B that are in reality region free.

Wait, this isnt ICHI THE KILLER? I got confused because I saw the word "ICHI" and I see the character is holding a blade of some sort...

It looks awesome. There's a reallllly limited theatrical run in the US (one night only at a few spots), so I'm glad it's getting a proper Blu-Ray release so soon.
