Default 'Children of the Corn' - High-Def Digest Review

E has reviewed 'Children of the Corn.' He says the movie has a lot of faults, but somehow manages to entertain 25 years after its release. This Blu-ray sports improved video, audio that makes the most of its source material, and extras that should please the fans. This is worth a look, especially when Halloween gets closer.

The review, while fair, doesn't really capture how astonishing the transfer looks, considering its age and low-budget status. It isn't gonna look like TRANSFORMERS, to be sure, but for what anyone would rightfully expect, it's damn near gorgeous.

You make a good point, Filmmaker, but 3.5 stars is not a bad grade either. Compared to other DVD releases, this BD is excellent. But with so many other excellent catalog titles available, I feel that 3.5 is quite generous and more than adequate for anyone looking to upgrade.

It is well worth the purchase.

on my scale, a 3.5 in any category is VERY GOOD, certainly nothing to scoff at.

bought this from BB @ 12.99. won't have time to view it for a while, but @ that price, it's hard to pass it up.

I really liked this movie. Almost has a cult following. The first 10 minutes are chilling and it just sets the tone. I'm glad they put in some hidef extras, which means this is a definitely pick up for me!

Shit, I haven't even seen this in probably more than 15 years (and I'm only 28) but I picked it up because it was only $12.99 at Best Buy and I didn't want to walk out of the store empty-handed. I expected a horrendous transfer. Will pop it in the player in the near future and hopefully be pleasantly surprised now. Also cool that there are 3 decent features in HD that are exclusive to this release. Nice work, Anchor Bay!

Sure, and I don't mean to imply otherwise (remember, I said your review was fair); I think it's just that the body of your review doesn't quite drive home how surprising the transfer quality is, in spite of its age and low budget origins. We're talking the same talk--for anyone interested, this is a purchase worth making.

Actually, the review is misleading...Peter Horton was starting the internship!

I picked it up at BB, too, and am quite happy with it. I loved the movie growing up, but the special effects look extremely dated.

Its a fun movie! However, its kinda "CORNY" at times, and the special effects (especially toward the end of the movie) are really, really bad (due to the film's low budget). Give it a rent at the very least; you may end up enjoying it.

I wouldnt call them bad things - just things that invoke laughter that prolly arent supposed to. I mean... yeah, its cool for the fans and all but I watched some of it on TV the other day and boy is it bad.

However, Id say its so bad its GOOD. One of those movies...

This is one movie that I expect to see a lot of grain. Get it ...corn, grain...aww shucks.

I also thought it was a very nice transfer. Highly recommended if you're a fan of the film.
