One of the greatest vampire movies ever made. Good to see more Bigelow on blu ray (altho I'm truly jonesin' for Strange Days) and I gotta make sure I check out The Hurt Locker by this Friday before it's gone.

The UK version released by optimum ain't that much better than an upconvert apparently... hopefully the US version will be a new transfer.

If this again omits the documentary and stroyboard/stills galleries from the Anchor Bay release, like Lionsgate's DVD re-release of last month, then it becomes a whole lot less a purchase for me.

The cover art of that release has a wee bit room for improvement also.

Didn't Twilight come out in March? That cover looks awfully familiar.

The "twilightified" cover art has its advantages. It might expose the fans of that cretinous bullshit to a real vampire movie and make them see how vapid their beloved books/films are...or it might expose the fans of that cretinous bullshit to a real vampire movie and make their heads explode. Win-win. And the movie under that crap cover-art is still the same classic.

In another forum, someone who had it thought the transfer was great.

This quote made my day

I didn't realize there were that many fans of "Near Dark", I figured I was the only one who remembered it from it's airings on HBO.
