'The Soloist' - High-Def Digest Review
Aaron has reviewed 'The Soloist.' This sounds like a nice surprise that was badly marketed during its release. With fantastic video and audio, along with a few chewy extras, this one is highly recommended.

Is this a type of movie someone can see themselves watching more than once? I thought it was great and I really enjoyed it, but at the same time I don't see myself ever watching this again.

I was really disappointed in this. Great acting, but nothing else really worked for me.

It's funny, this movie got really mixed reviews with the critics, but every one who's reviewed the Blu-ray so far loved the movie.

I haven't seen the movie, but if it's as good as Aaron says, then I'll have to agree with the comment about bad marketing. The trailers looked terr-i-ble. They really put me off from seeing it.

agreed. the trailers looked like crap, though the prospect of watching Jamie Foxx was another big put off.

pretty sure the whole movie was about him playing a cello, not violin.

Boy, no doubt--I've noticed the exact same thing. It's got a 54% rotten rating at rottentomatoes.com, with even some of the positive reviews logging various complaints about the film, but I've read at least five reviews of the Blu-ray so far and they all wax orgasmic about the film, stating that it's a powerful work of art, one of the best films of the year, movie-making par excellence. They've almost got me ready to do a blind buy, but that rottentomatoes score keeps pulling me back from the edge. I rarely rent, but I think I'm gonna have to here...

I'll definitely rent this before I buy it. Hey, I thought I would never watch The Wrestler or Seven Pounds again and I just put them in over the weekend. Some movies take time for you to want to watch them again. And yes, it's a cello.

I watched this over the weekend. Bought it on a blind buy based on a few reliable recommendations. Loved the film and definetly will watch the Blu ray again. The film moved me very much. I think I was really hungry for a film like this. The subtle story and acting was most welcome. I've already recommended it to co-workers.
