Default 'Prison Break: The Final Break' - High-Def Digest Review

Nate has reviewed 'Prison Break: The Final Break.' First, be warned, this review CONTAINS SPOILERS! Second, he says this cash-in feature follow-up fails to right the wrongs of the show's final seasons. This Blu-ray has okay video, somewhat problematic sound, and thin extras. For fans only.

Well, I cant read this yet since I have not viewed my copy. I still have one more catch-up episode to view. I figure it will be a let down to stay in style with the show since S2.

Sarah was pretty integral in Season 4. It was Season 3 that she was a throw-away character. Heck, most of the time it was a double. I can't stand T-Bag and I'm sick of the actor, so I can't say I'm glad he's in the movie.

This wasen't bad, it explains what happened to Michael at the end of season 4. I just don't like the fact they arranged a whole break in 2 hours vs a whole season of 22-24 episodes. Still it was a good watch.

Well this time it was a bit easier, considering:
Spoiler:
He wasn't worried about getting out himself.

concerning michael:

Spoiler:
the fact that his nosebleed came back after the surgery showed he was going to die anyways, so we just assumed it was that. fact of the matter is, he should have just stopped stickin' his fingers in there, that nosebleed would have healed, and he wouldn't have died of infection. we assume here he died in that little explosion, but the fact they don't show his body leaves open another DTV sequel story. i hope not, because the ends were tied up just a bit here, but hey, you know how they can be about milking the cows until the cow is dead, then continuing to milk it.

concerning the 2 hours vs 16-18 hours, i agree. the fun of the first season were the twists and turns, how some simple plans got huge problems that had to be overcome to work. with this, there is none of that.

At least rent it, it's worthing seeing once. I wouldn't buy it, since no replay value but glad I got to see it. Agree with review, it's really for fans only and wasn't that great. And about the end...

Spoiler:
Maybe a DTV release that shows Michael survives, escapes and gets to Panama to meet his son and then dies. Reading on fan sites, a lot fans were upset he never got to meet his son.

Really still on-the-fence with this one, even after Nate's review. I kinda' think I might like it (since I was a big fan of the show), but then this did seem to have "cash-in" written all over it from the first time I did a double-take on the BestBuy ad showing this title.

But, my main reason to post was just to say: to me, the whole point of the Prison Break series was about Michael, and how smart he was. It very early on (even Season 1) became less about a 'realistic depiction', and more about "what bizarre method of escape will Michael dream-up this time". And the character actors were always of the highest caliber. The stories may have been outlandish, but the performances were always A-1 and kept me coming back for more.

To me, although the final season wrapped-up the story with the General a bit too conveniently .... the very final "years later" scene was the perfect, fitting end to the series.

i'd disagree with that idea, for one solid reason:

Spoiler:
who cares what a bunch of fans WANT to see? it's the producers and writers who try to make a story work, they should make one that makes us WANT to see the characters, not one that gives us everything we ask for conveniently at the sake of logic. i'd rather have my personal hopes for a show dashed if it means a stronger ending more in line with what has happened in the show is presented instead.

prison break got progressivley worse every season and it topped off with one of the most unsatisfying finales ever in television history

Spoiler:
that said this movie is a decent watch for prison break fans and it does provide closure to michaels death in the flashfoward scene at the end of season 4.

UTL, hope you don't mind, but i spoiler tagged that last line, just as the review had a spoiler warning. i know a few people who are still working on season 4, and it's still new enough that not everyone who likes the show knows what happens in that flash forward ending.
